Our History
First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Memphis began on December 9, 1984 as a result of a merger of the Park Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Cromwell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Click here to read more about the history of those churches from the Cumberland Presbyterian Historical Foundation. Later, the church purchased 12 acres on the corner of Riverdale and Holmes Road in Memphis, where a multi-purpose building was built. The church worshipped and served God there for 15 years.
In 2004, the church began construction on 30 acres located at 8161 Germantown Road in Olive Branch. During the building process, worship services were held at Whispering Woods Hotel and Conference Center at Hacks Cross and Goodman Road in Olive Branch. The new church changed its name to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Olive Branch and opened its doors to the community for worship, Bible study, fellowship, and service on February 6, 2005. Rev. Jim Ratliff faithfully served this congregation from January 21, 2005 to November 5, 2017. On July 1, 2020, the church called Rev. Paul Earheart-Brown as pastor.
Our history is still being written, and we can't wait to see what unfolds next along our journey with God!
